Sheer Mag is one of the only great American rock bands of this generation.

The Philadelphia rockers blew through the Bottleneck, much to the delight of a surprisingly large crowd for a Monday night. Both older and younger generations of music lovers shared a fondness for Sheer Mag thanks to their completely no-bullshit rock and roll sound. Vocalist Tina Halladay has one of those absolutely unforgettable voices, with vocals so raw and full of soul it just ripped your heart out and stomped on it. She was so menacing, so cool, and left this music town seething with both jealousy and admiration.

They were joined by Indiana guitar wailers Laffing Gas, Kansas City’s garage noise pop outfit The Whiffs, and Lawrence hardcore honeys Nancy Boys.
