Friday

The Sluts / Going to Hell in a Leather Jacket – The Replay

The Replay will be an interesting place on Friday night. It will play host to the usual garage rock sound, but with a twist.

Going to Hell in a Leather Jacket is a wonderfully bizarre project out of Lawrence that mixes electronic music and heavy metal. Expect dancey beats that you can pump your fists and roar to.

I Heart Local Music favorites The Sluts will be in full force. Expect some very unique vocals over some of the harshest rock you’ll hear in Northeast Kansas.

Monzie Leo and the Big Sky

Monzie Leo and the Big Sky / Olassa / Bosco – 837 Connecticut

Earlier this month we dubbed Monzie Leo and the Big Sky one of the most exciting musical experiences in Lawrence.

The music is fierce and the performers are 100% rough around the edges. On Friday night Mr. Monzie Leo himself is inviting you over to his home for an intimate (and no doubt rowdy) performance. Expect hootin’ and hollerin’, and a show that will surely light a fire under your butt.

Saturday

Stik Figa works the crowd at the Jackpot

Skeptics / Stik Figa / J Crill / Joe Cool – The Jackpot

The Jackpot will once again be home to some of the area’s finest hip hop this weekend.

If there’s one reason to love our Topeka neighbors, it’s for the simple fact that the town produces the best rappers in Kansas.

Stik Figa is one of the most charismatic and talented lyricists in the area. He tends to put on the most energetic and magnetic live shows. He livens up any event, and nobody gets a party started like Stik. I will fight you over this.

Go to this show to get a dose of Stik’s intoxicating stage presence and signature dance moves we’ve come to love from the man. Stay for his performance of “Hello.”

These shows are just the tip of the iceberg. Be sure to check out the full concert calendar (and find what tickles your fancy) here.
