Dr. Octor
I’ve enjoyed watching Dr. Octor transform over the past few weeks. The first time I saw them, they were heavy on the acoustic guitar and trumpet. The show had a very Old West feel to it. But on Thursday night at the Replay, the band decided to add some variety.

On this night, Craig Comstock (of This Is My Condition) joined the band on drums. This Is My Condition is a thrilling one-man show, so Comstock is used to playing extremely loud and chaotic beats. That, paired with the distorted electric guitar that frontman Wallace Cochran used instead of his usual acoustic guitar, made for a very lively show. The band also sped up the pace of the songs.

This is a very creative group of musicians, and I can’t help but feel that we’ll see even more transformations from them in the future. They certainly leave you with a little bounce in your step. On a night when the extreme heat and humidity sucks the life out of you, it’s nice to have a band that puts it back in.
