Three powerhouse rock bands gave the mid-week slump a swift kick in the ass at the Bottleneck on Wednesday. This was our third time seeing The Velveteers in Lawrence in recent years. The band, on tour supporting their recently released A Million Knives, thrilled audience with a jaw-dropping stamina fueling guitar riffs and two unruly percussionists. The audience matched their feral energy through the encore. They were joined by Girl Tones, a duo who honestly could give The White Stripes a run for their money, and charismatic local rockers Indra.
