While Downtown was a feverishly busy landscape on the final Friday before Christmas, a calmer and more serene event attracted music lovers to East Lawrence. For the second year in a row, Serene Fiend gathered an ensemble of top-notch musicians for a holiday affair. Set against the glowing and delicate backdrop of the Cider Gallery, Fiendstivus showcases stripped-down and acoustic versions of otherwise gothy and industrial Serene Fiend songs from Joel Bonner and Co. This year, the strings were a big hit, as was the extra percussionist banging on an assortment of random objects (giving a literal sense to the word “industrial”).
