After getting delayed a couple of weeks (Royals, cough cough, Royals), The Roseline finally celebrated its reentrance into the scene with a new album, Townie.

The alt-country-indie-folk band, fronted by Colin Haliburton, played to a Friday evening crowd at Love Garden. The production on the album is top-notch, making it fairly likable and easy on the ears. That level of quality was also apparent at the record store performance with a full lineup of expert musicians. Haliburton’s crooning was complimented by Heidi Gluck’s smooth vocals (she also stepped in on bass for this show) while narrating the usual tales of tragedy that occupy this genre (love, alcohol, etc.) But Haliburton’s earnest delivery is what keeps a glimmer of hope in his songs. It’s been a few years since The Roseline has seen any activity in the scene, but it feels like Haliburton genuinely used that time to perfect the art of Americana.
