Lawrence is pretty heavy on psych-infused garage rock, but one of the more meticulously perfected psychedelic sounds comes from Kansas City’s The Conquerors.

This is a band that tends to win over audiences the moment they’re introduced to their mind-bending tunes. They don’t make it out to Lawrence too often, but their visits usually include a stint at the Replay that fills the venue.

High Dive, a growing label out of Kansas City, recently announced signing The Conquerors into the family. They’re set to release a 7″ this Fall, but in the mean time released two new songs, “I Don’t Know” and “I See You.” Both are prime examples of Rory Cameron’s entrancing vocals that completely transport you back a few decades. Add in exquisite guitar work and hypnotic percussion (courtesy two percussionists in the band), and you’ve got one of the most anticipated albums of the year.

High Dive has been enthusiastically signing bands up recently, and the result is a stellar roster of rockers that includes Bummer, Psychic Heat, Rev Gusto, and now The Conquerors. Whether they’re aware of it or not, the band’s reach goes pretty far (fans from several states over have contacted us about them). Their signing onto High Dive will hopefully bring a little more activity from the normally low-key group. You can listen to the new tracks below until they finally hit up a venue near you.
