Underneath a bright super moon, three Kansas City bands brought their own individual brands of breezy summer rock to the Jackpot Saturday night.

The night began with Rev Gusto, a band that forever belongs on the beach in those cheap little plastic dayglo sunglasses. The boys are heavy on guitar and good attitudes, and we’ve yet to see them play the same set twice. You can keep their summer vibes going by checking out some of their recently released music here.

Mat Shoare followed up with a full band. Playing with this larger ensemble, as opposed to solo, is bringing out grand results with this singer songwriter. His songs are remarkably easy to fall in love with, and keep you captivated for the duration of the set. His delicate voice packs a punch, and we expect great things to come for the crooning songster.

Nobody’s having a summer quite like The Conquerors. The psych-rock and percussion heavy group has been bouncing back and forth between local festivals, at-capacity gigs, and touring on the road. Yet somehow, they still have managed to find time to record and write new music. They debuted a couple of those new songs on Saturday, and it’s good to know that they’re affinity for the retro isn’t going anywhere.
