We’re not really sure if there’s anything out there that can stop Red Kate. The Kansas City group is easily one of the best punk bands in the area, and on Saturday night they displayed an admirable sense of resiliency when they played Frank’s North Star Tavern in North Lawrence.

The night was a dangerous one for anyone out and about, seeing as how mother nature was layering ice and snow on the roads. But that didn’t stop Red Kate. They risked their necks to come into town and showed us just how thrilling their songs can get. The basement of Frank’s amplifies the sound of their aggressive guitars so much, it left everyone barely able to hear the vocals. They still put up one heckuva fight, though. The band is hard as nails, and listening to such a solid performance was a welcome treat.

Here’s a brand new song they played on Saturday called “On My Mind.”
