Sometimes, Lawrence boasts local musicians who have more than just musical talents. For example, beloved folk musician Megan Luttrell has a PhD in Slavic Languages and Literature. So talented!! We’ve heard her perform in other languages before, so we asked her to indulge us again and perform in Russian.

You can watch a clip below of Megan performing “Калинка” (Kalinka), written by Ivan Larionov in 1860, in the sunflower fields at Grinter Farms between Tonganoxie and Lawrence, Kansas. A kalinka is a snowberry!

Megan’s next performance is at Empty Nester’s Winery in Lecompton on September 12.
