It’s bluegrass week here in Lawrence. It’s actually a pretty big music weekend overall in Larryville– but if your grass is blue, then Kaw River Roots Fest was the show for you.

Abe and Jake’s hosted the festival for its second year, utilizing every square inch of the place. Two stages, one in the parking lot and one on the deck, hosted local bands while the main stage was delegated for touring acts. Fans drove in from as far as Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri to catch acts like Opal Agafia and Leftover Salmon. Local musicians, including Sky Smeed and Tyler Gregory, dazzled against the sunset-painted skies.

Night 2 continues Saturday.
