A festive, abundant wreath hung suspended above the Liberty Hall stage, just behind the disco ball, as three bands celebrated the holiday season with a Holiday Hootenanny on Thursday. Carswell & Hope headlined the night, dotted by the comedic stylings of local personality Mike Anderson and a very folky take on Christmas tunes from Unfit Wives (they delighted fans with their bluegrass rendition of Alvin and the Chipmunks’ “Christmas Song”). Maria the Mexican admitted that they didn’t come with any holiday songs, but gave the audience a little holiday cheer anyway by declaring “F you Donald Trump!” towards the end of their set (a statement that’s become common at their shows this year).
