Kirsten Paludan likes to keep it old school. Like, waaaay old school.

On Sunday night, she indulged the early Replay patio crowd with her latest project, The Rambling Roses. The band, fronted by a powerhouse of women, played up all those country guilty pleasures. They covered Neko Case, Gillian Welch, and (of course) Patsy Cline. Their harmonies were as breezy as the mild weather that blew through the outdoor venue. Paludan’s voice was remarkable, eloquent, and robust all at the same time while she coolly plucked away at her guitar.

No word on when they’ll play again, but you can watch them covering Ernest Tubbs below and bask in that unapologetically feminine, Midwestern twang Paludan seems to get just right.
