Be still, our gypsy hearts. Sugar Britches are your new favorite facetious folksters in town.

This quartet of sweet, sour, and all things sass have only been around since March, but are quickly winning over crowds in Lawrence. On Saturday, they hit up the Jazzhaus and introduced audiences to their unique brand of raunchy numbers.

We’ve never heard such sweet voices belt out lines like “You can catch more bees with honey, but darling you smell like shit!” We’re particularly fond of the keyboard/accordion player in this all-female lineup. She may very well have the fastest fingers on the Kaw.

Sugar Britches are a little sultry and surly, a little vaudeville and (if your’e not careful) vicious. Playful, rascally, and tough as nails…. these gals are going to become local favorites in no time at all.
