Kansas City six-piece The Philistines come out like a hellbent street gang, chains scraping the ground and switchblades at the ready with their lead single “Twitch of the Death Nerve,” one of two new tracks on their forthcoming full length record due this summer. “Twitch of the Death Nerve” is a rollicking, instantly catchy track that leaves the perfect amount of grime all over you and the dancefloor.

Then there’s the bewitching strum of “Arecibo,” a haunting, breathy, slinky tune that shows the range of the band. One rocker, one psych slow jam, one band. The Philistines are due for a big year after an already tremendous Spring (did you hear the Bill Murray at SXWS story?). The 180 degree turn between these two songs are a great preview of the eclectic record to come.
