Spring Break is over, March Madness is in full swing, and it’s about time we had a good old fashioned weekend full of Lawrence rock. Here’s a look at some of the best shows happening this weekend.

Muscle Worship

Friday

Muscle Worship / Brother Gruesome – The Replay

Seeing a Muscle Worship show at the Replay is one of the first signs of Spring. Scenesters will gather from far and wide to gaze upon the glorious rockers. The band has left quite an impression on the scene with their guitar arrangements, and Sean Bergman’s growling vocals will leave you in awe.

Come to see the equal parts rock and beautiful melody, stay for the exceptional atmosphere that seems to come with a Muscle Worship show.

Brother Gruesome, of Oklahoma City, will also be bringing their post rock to the Replay. Take note: this is an early show, starts at 6:00 p.m.

Latenight Callers / Howard Iceberg and The Titanics / The Quivers – The Bottleneck

If you love fashion and seductive cocktail music, then look no further than The Bottleneck on Friday. Latenight Callers will envelope you in a Mad Men-esque set thanks to their slick suits, luscious lyrics, and mesmerizing melodies.

The ladies in this band are quite a sight to behold, boasting bright, puckered up lips worthy of a 50’s pinup model. They may even bat their eyes like naughty schoolgirls. But don’t think the band is all makeup and noir, they’ve got a hefty amount of (very) addictive tunes that will leave you sauntering into the night.

The Quivers and Howard Iceberg and The Titanics will also perform.

Saturday

The Hips
The Hips / The Harrisonics – The Replay

Hallelujah, The Hips are finally back. They took a brief hiatus over the winter and later tested the waters at a house show a couple of weeks ago.

There’s a good chance the saucy Replay crowd will have spring fever, seeing as how The HIps will most likely try to get you hot and bothered with their sexy lyrics. There will be so many sexual innuendos, you’ll probably lose count. Yes, the Replay will be in fine form on Saturday night when The Hips take the stage.

Be sure to catch The Harrisonics open the show.
