Those Ponyboy. men are back it, releasing a brief three track EP featuring covers of Peaches, The Cure, and Joan Jett.

Hookups lets the two-piece tear these tracks apart in their buzzy, sludgey way. Charles McVey keeps his growl perfect and really makes the covers his own. They remain faithful in a sense, but I love that it sounds exactly like a Ponyboy. song should; nasty and mean. My favorite of the three covers has to “Secrets” by The Cure. A great goth ballad where the mellow track whispers in your ear. Hookups is the guy at karaoke who walks up to the microphone after you’ve finished, sings the exact same song, and absolutely destroys it. You can allow applaud how great it is. Ponyboy. remains king of Lawrence “trash-rock.”
