Ope, you caught us! We snuck out of Kaw River Roots Fest to catch Kansas City salsa group Los Subtropicales. Braving the hefty door fee for this show was worth it. The group’s bandleader turned the charisma up to 11, schmoozing with the crowd and getting them on their feet. By the time we snuck back out, folks were dancing in front of the stage, by the bar, next to the ATM, everywhere. If we’re lucky enough that they ever come back, try not to sleep on Los Subtropicales. You can watch a clip of part of their set below, and follow their schedule here.
