Tuesday night was an extraordinarily joyous time at the Uptown’s Encore stage. That’s because Leikeli47, who is already one of the year’s standout performers, graced the stage with a spirited and refreshing take on what it means to performer. Touring on her second full-length album, Acrylic, Leikeli47 kept the hip-hop show intensely informal, often pulling up dancers to the stage, and plucking audience members out of the audience for “Girl Blunt.” She toured with Yung Baby Tate and local rapper Yanna the Supa Flowa, rounding out the entire night as a celebration of self love, blackness, and queerness.
