The North end of Downtown Lawrence came alive on Saturday night, as revelers fluttered between various venues in the popular nightclub region. But inside the Bottleneck, a dance party was erupting thanks to BRASA’s celebration of all things Brazil.

Balacaobaco do Brasil indulged dancers with anything from samba to bossa nova. The large lineup took over the stag with a variety of instruments and percussion, and included some heavy hitters which included guitarist Cody Case and drummer Dylan Bassett. But it was vocalist Angelique Staggs who stole the show with her angelic voice and a body that flowed like water when she danced onstage. Between songs, she would introduce the following piece and explain the region it was born out of.
