First Fridays crowds swelled in Kansas City this weekend; the first taste of spring and the break in the rain didn’t disappoint. RecordBar was overflowing as for Cloud Nothings’ spring tour. Locals Mess played to the room first, lead by Alison Gleison’s strong pop pretty voice and a moody set of melodies laid out by the band. False Brother followed with a trippy rock set, complete with lava lamp lights and a reverb to match.
Fellow midwesterners Cloud Nothings closed the night out. Somewhere between indie-ish garage rock and a reworked throw back to the pretty punk that emo kids grew up on, the Ohio natives hit it hard with a clear high-energy set.
