Maria the Mexican tore it up for their album release show at the Replay Friday evening. Despite it being the early show, a full crowd consisting of an audience in a wide range of ages formed inside the venue. Children sat down on the floor in the front, while the elderly scaled the benches in the back.

The band provided roots rock for everyone with lyrics that interchangeably leapt between English and Spanish. Despite the tight quarters, the dancers who are normally spotted at Maria the Mexican shows still made room for twirling and scooting about the dance floor.

Kirsten Paludan opened up the evening with oh-so-smooth and sultry sounds. Paludan’s music can best be enjoyed at the edge of a tranquil pond at sunset on a calm summer night, but only if you are completely at peace with yourself and there is a slight breeze in the air (oh yeah, it’s that soothing).
