Lawrence came out for the rock show Thursday night at the Granada. Headbanging, shoe gaze metal group O’Brother opened the show with a tight set quickly followed by Balance and Composure. Out of Pennsylvania, these guys play driving rock with screamy vocals that are a well kept secret (though probably not for long).

Touché Amoré hit the stage next, a hardcore metal group with connections to Lawrence and Kansas: their most recent album, “Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me,” was produced by the legendary local Ed Rose at Black Lodge studios in Eudora. They raved about Lawrence, calling our own Love Garden Sounds one of the best record stores in the country.

Circa Survive took the stage next, and with their complicated melodic sound and fun antics (confetti, balloons, balloons filled with confetti) they rounded out a perfect rock evening.
