JabberJosh started off a night of rock at the Jackpot with their usual comedic antics with song titles like “Diets Don’t Work, Chocolate Cake Works” and “Get Rid of Linda or I’m Going To Throw Her Out The Window.” The sibling duo must be hard at work this year, because somehow they’re playing faster than they have ever played before. The other two bands have JabberJosh to thank for bringing in such a lively crowd. Within two songs they turned a fairly empty venue into a lively and boisterous one.

Brainstorm, a merry band out of Portland, continued the upbeat attitude with chipper and very danceable songs. They were a pleasant group to watch, and it wasn’t uncommon to see the darlings throw little smiles at each other and the crowd. They definitely stole the show that night, and got extra points for rocking a tuba. This was their first time in Kansas, and if they’re gracious enough to stop our way again, we highly encourage you to check out their cheerful live show and lively stage presence.

Ringo Deathstarr, a shoegaze outfit out of Austin, played short and energetic bursts of music to round out the night. They demanded the lights be turned down so low that it was (almost) impossible to see anything, but it didn’t stop the crowd from taking in a fine performance from the trio.
