We heard indie pop is making a comeback. So naturally, Hembree has a new track out.

“Options” really hits the band’s sound spot on. A playful synth introduces “Intro” with brooding and crooning Isaac Flynn’s vocals coming in. The buildup on this track is expertly produced, leading to a frenzied guitar freakout that gets everyone on their feet. If you weren’t inclined to dance at the beginning of the track, the guitars that hit in the bridge seal the deal by the end. The “options and dreams” echoing on the chorus gives major new wave vibes while maintaining the band’s signature indie rock sound.

Isaac Flynn says “Options” was inspired by a capitalist nightmare he encountered when trying to purchase a car. “We’re all just being endlessly marketed to. All the add-ons, hidden fees, finance your life away living… it had me thinking about how silly all of it really is. Those guys don’t wanna sell those cars either, yet here they are telling me I need an advanced security system for the low price of $1999! I guess I just started thinking about how insignificant this stuff is in the long run,” he says. “So I wrote a song about pushing all of the bullshit aside and just getting lost in time with the person you love. And how having that person makes sifting through the nonsense worth it.”
