There is a gospel quality to Elexa Dawson’s Music Is Medicine and maybe that’s a testament to its “healing” effect. Dawson grabs cosmic ideas and connects them with her earthy folk. There’s a soulful aspect with her quiet instrumentation (gently strummed guitars and light percussion) that is most apparent in her voice; a wonderful and strong lyricist with the perfect amount of twang. And don’t think I’d forget about the banjo playing. Just the right combination for a gray winter.
