If you think local bands can’t absolutely pack the mid-sized venues in Lawrence, this show proved you’re wrong. The Bottleneck was STUFFED with live music fans on Friday night at a time of year when we normally see things slow down. If you were to ask us what three rock bands are really making waves right now in Lawrence, it would have been the ones on this lineup. LYXE, MellowPhobia (who released one of our favorite albums of the year), and Flash Floods all have a dedicated fan base– and the added bonus of the evening was Lawrence getting an introduction to Kansas Cit’s Say That Again (if you’re a fan of indie pop, this is a band you should see). A major element of the night’s excitement is due to the fact that LYXE called out the masses to support their latest venture: a music video. The show was recorded live for a video to accompany the band’s upcoming EP. We feel that the fans would have been outrageous regardless of a camera presence. There is no shortage of enthusiasm for all the acts on the bill.
