There’s nothing like a big, colorful commotion to break up a grey winter. On Tuesday, all the splendor and vigor of the Mardi Gras Parade pierced through Downtown Lawrence with a celebration for the books. The band, lead by percussion maestro Dylan Bassett, assembled a ragtag group of ragtime aficionados to celebrate with music, costumes, and joy. Unapologetic happiness took center stage (or rather, street) as the parade made its way from one end of Mass Street to the other over the course of two hours. The band occasionally ducked into restaurants to make a loud scene before eventually ending with a big showdown at Free State Brewery. Photos from the celebration below:
