Back in September, music fans in this part of the state were torn when Best Coast played Kansas City the same night that Wavves hit the Granada in Lawrence. On Friday, those troubles disappeared as both bands came together for their “Summer is Forever” tour at the Midland.

Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino has such a commanding presence of the stage, and it showed in extreme strengths on Friday. The band has blossomed from a duo to a full band with a sound large enough to roar through every corner of the massive venue. Wavves have an unmatched energy that gets their audiences worked into a frenzy thanks to their high-paced numbers. Cherry Glazerr only accentuated those summer vibes (in February!) with equal parts vigor in guitar hooks and tenacious vocals from Clementine Creevy.
