My anticipation continues to build for the Shy Boys debut LP, set to be released this January. After contributing the haunting track “Heart Is Mine” on the High Dive Records Spring Sampler and the bluesy rocker “Is This Who You Are?” on the Crossroads Summer Block Party Sampler earlier this year, their first “official” single is out and it is a true gem. Shy Boys have a true talent for catchy tunes and the sweet guitar on “Keeps Me On My Toes” gets you on their side immediately.

It’s a surfy, fast paced ditty with Shy Boys’ signature beautiful melodies (“these ears were made to listen close/these ears could hear me call your name”). I haven’t been able to stop singing along to the infectious chorus (“Keeps me on my toe-oh-oh-ohs…”). And if you haven’t been bobbing along with the song from the beginning, when the drums kick in at a little over a minute that should just do the trick. I will try and try to be patient, but January can not get here soon enough.
