The bombastic dramatics on Y god Y’s debut EP cover you like a warm blanket with bass drops and melancholic howls all over. The duo wraps electronic pop with tinges of R&B that give them a slow-jam quality that will have you grabbing that special someone a little closer. But it’s that underlying emotion that gives you pangs of grief or regret; a sexiness to their sadness. “Excuses” hits that nail on the head; a banger that leaves a tear streaming down your cheek.

Y god Y turns up their energy on opener “Lug Weight” and dancefloor magnet “Lighthouse;” the prelude to stellar single “Say” that will ensure you never stop dancing. The EP comes to a head with the anthemic “In Lament,” where the heart wrenching delivery brings the house down. This is a high achievement in art-rock/electropop with a fucking beat. Hurt and heal in equal measure.
