Every time pure xtc releases a new track, it feels like a private performance. It’s as though an independent artist is introducing you to a new track, performed in their bedroom, talking about bigger things on the horizon. Every time we hear pure xtc we can’t help but feel like something bigger is on the horizon. They have a larger-than-life pop sound that’s meant for bigger things.

The same rings true for pure xtc’s latest track, “paper sun.” It feels like an intimate affair… that is, until you get to the bridge. My God, this musician can write some cathartic buildups. The fuzzy guitar-saturated track is the lead up to a new album, out later this summer. But first, a string of PRIDE performances on a mini-tour for the Kansas City artist.
