Nothing has quite put a pep in our step over the last year like listening to Hello Biplane sets. Calling upon the carefree nostalgia of mid-90’s indie rock, their latest single “Spotlight” takes us to a place where worries melt away. The band says “Spotlight” “is an upbeat tune about dropping your inhibitions and putting yourself out into the world, taking a chance to have some fun and maybe find that special someone.”
We are living for the Lawrence references in the song, as they sing “can you hear my stomach growl, lets go dumpster diving, at rudy’s pizza alley while we wait, where we can sing hank williams, with the bums.” Considering a married couple fronts Hello Biplane, we can’t help but hope dumpster diving in the Ruddy’s pizza alley was part of their courtship.
This is the first of four singles coming from the band ahead of their album, How to hold a bug, coming out later this year on March 27. This is definitely a carefree vibe that will fit in perfect to your Spring rotation.
Hello Biplane is comprised of Spencer Goertz-Giffen (guitar/vocals) and Braden Young (guitar/vocals) featuring Jeff Jackson (bass), Austin Sinkler (drums), Nate Holt (keyboards), and Hugh Naughtin (cello/synth). They’re set to hold their album release show at The Bottleneck on March 28 with The Roseline and THMSTR.
