On Friday, April 19th, The Organization Formerly Known as Girls Rock Lawrence is back as you’ve never seen it before. At this super special show, we will celebrate our new name, as well as fundraise for our annual summer camp. The matinee show is ALL AGES and features LK Ultra, Rachel Mallin and The Wild Type and Ex Brain.

This year, Lawrence’s best intersectional feminist rock camp is rebranding with a new name that represents the range of identities we serve and a new mission statement that better reflects our goal: to amplify the voices and ideas of local youth through social justice and musical expression.

Meet us at the Replay Lounge for an early show at 6 (or late show at 10) to jam out and celebrate our new name. Don’t worry, we’ll still be shredding the patriarchy.

We’re excited and humbled to work with local acts who know the power of music. This event features the best and baddest intersectional feminist acts from around town.

ALL PROCEEDS from ticket sales will go towards making this year’s rock camp a reality.

~The Organization~
Wait, why is Girls Rock changing its name? There are a couple of reasons for this change.

The reality is, our organization serves people of many identities. We approach social justice from an intersectional lens and recognize that systems of oppression exist in gender, race, sexuality, ability, and more. While there are a lot of important historical reasons for our old name, today prioritizing “Girls” excludes people of other gender identities and doesn’t even address the types of oppression that aren’t gender-related.

The most important reason for our rebrand is that campers asked for it. Campers told us again and again that the name “Girls Rock” didn’t represent their identities or their camp experience. At its core and above all, our organization strives to center youth voices and empower our campers to make decisions.
