We’re really excited about this lovely Matinee! Katie Sin is coming up from Iowa (Mem of Pink Neighbor!), she’s joined by the ever lovely Hadiza, + The Black Mariah Theater is releasing their new single!

Katie Sin:
A transplant to Iowa from Chicagoland, Katie Sin (Pink Neighbor) writes songs that teeter between the driving energy of the city and the wide open heart of the country. Combining an indie folk rock sound with varied influences like old movie soundtracks, jazz, and classical music, Katie Sin indulges the well-rounded listener, using her versatile voice and compassionate lyrics to “tie the room together.”

Hadiza.
Hadiza.
Hadiza. is a singer, songwriter and pianist based in Kansas City. Since relocating to Kansas City from her hometown of Iowa City, she has been slowly carving out her place in the scene as a solo artist and as lead vocalist/lyricist and 1/2 of experimental electronic outfit Collidescope. Her solo sound is an eclectic blend of blues, classical, jazz, soul and folk. Vocally comparisons have been made to the likes of Nina Simone (she does not accept this comparison), Lianne La Havas and Vermillion Lies. Long story short, Hadiza. writes songs so that she does not explode from the modern day pressure applied by the legacy of colonialism. The best part is when strangers find entry points to connect with her music that she primarily makes for herself.
