Wow, Christmas really is right around the corner. It feels like the holiday snuck up on everyone a little quickly this year. But in the midst of a mad dash to finish up all those pesky little tasks and errands ahead of the break, Lawrence took some time for holiday harmonies at the Lawrence Public Library.

Americana Music Academy held a public Christmas Caroling event just inside the entrance of the Library. Musicians from a variety of skills and backgrounds were invited to come out and perform the festive tunes listed in a songbook they distributed. Steve Mason, of the Alferd Packer Memorial String Band, helped lead everyone in song with the help of a conductor. Every now and then, folks strolled into the auditorium and chimed in with singing of their own. The caroling and mostly string arrangements lasted for an hour and then some just before the sun dipped away for the weekend. You can watch a clip below:
