White Schoolhouse Birthday / Photo by Fally Afani

Accomplishing what White Schoolhouse has done in just one year is no small feat. Since August of 2017, they’ve become a DIY staple in Lawrence. Downtown Boys, Chastity Belt, and Diet Cig are just a few of the headlining acts that have toured through the area. Additionally, local and regional bands have seen successful turnouts at the North Lawrence venue. But most important of all, White Schoolhouse (along with Petri Productions) put femme-fronted bands at the forefront of these shows. To celebrate a successful first year, they invited everyone out to watch Dreamgirl (a Schoolhouse staple), Paul Cherry, Fullbloods, and (gasp!) a rare appearance (possible reunion?) from The ACBs. The night was topped with cupcakes and merriment as the all-ages venue looked towards another year of live music.
