It seems you can’t turn anywhere in the local music scene without catching Duncan Burnett. He’s been spotted at a wide variety of performances between Lawrence and Kansas City, and often collaborates with acts like Khrystal. and Mae C. This week, his knack for collaboration is shining again as he pushes forth his own work with the video for “Black Boy Joy.”

The video for the song, produced by the ever-talented and just as collaborative Dominique Sanders, was created by one of our favorite rap acts on the scene, Yanna ‘Supa Flowa’ Casey. “Black Boy Joy” is the first single off Burnett’s upcoming EP, The Almighty. “‘Black Boy Joy’ is a positive trap anthem, to really have confidence and belief in yourself,” says Burnett. “You hear a lot of banging trap, radio style songs but none are real dope AND clean and positive. So i wanted make something kids and turn up to, and people my age who like this style of music but not necessarily down with all the b’s and hoes and n words, and typical materialistic stuff.”

You can watch the video below. Burnett is one of the many acts set to play Boulevardia this Summer, but you can also catch him at his EP release show coming up in May at recordBar.
