Well goshdarnit, Victor and Penny are just adorable.

On the breeziest of Spring evenings, the Kansas City duo (whose names are actually Erin McGrane and Jeff Freling) hit up Five Bar for an early evening set full of delightful ukulele and guitar numbers. The two are rich with charm and wit, with a retro style that’s clean and sharp. The songs border on folk and vaudeville, but the always-smiling McGrane and Freling remain completely chic. Between songs, the musical darlings worked the audience in such a way where even the most jaded scenester gave in and gazed on adoringly… possibly even batting their eyelashes. They’re completely likable— and considering that they’re a couple both on and off the stage, its hard not to blush when you see them stealing glances from each other.

You can see them Tuesday, April 19th, at Musical Theatre Heritage in Kansas City.
