Judging by SXSW’s strong showing of female-fronted garage rock acts, we anticipate a banner year for Sunday Heroine. This is the band where you can relive all your 90’s alt/grunge dreams.

It’s hard to believe that it’s fronted by Max Lock, a musician barely out of high school who had hundreds of songs written before she even turned 16. She’s always had a strong grasp on her songwriting, but last week’s show at the Replay’s Three-Headed Thursdays event indicated a strong confidence in her stage presence. Both her vocals and guitar skills feel self-assured and the songs are starting to get a little harder and faster. We’d like to encourage this band to avoid cautiousness and go a little nuts. A brazen attitude will get them far considering the trend bands like this have going across the nation.
