There’s nothing quite like starting the weekend in Spring. The flowers are finally blooming big bursts of color on the ground and in the trees, the air is warm, and you feel like dancing.

This must have been the general sentiment for half of Lawrence, judging by the sheer volume of party-goers downtown on Friday. Many of them strapped on their dancing shoes and headed up to the Jazzhaus, where Hearts of Darkness were leading the party.

The Afrobeat band brought soul, funk, hip hop, and all the good times to the show. Down on the dance floor, revelers boogied with their friends and lovers. Up on the stage, the vocalizing vixens of the group boogied with each other. Everybody had Spring fever, and they were all dancing it off.

Hearts of Darkness is about to head down to SXSW, where they will no doubt make an impression at Midcoast Takeover. Until then, here’s a prescription for that Spring Fever of yours:
