It’s easy to see why folks take to The Wandering Lake so easily. Laid back, breezy, and just right for fans of mellow. It’s drama-free music that’s somehow a perfect fit for any mood.

While the man behind this act, Brian Kupillas, is normally spotted behind an acoustic guitar, he also dabbles in experimentation. We’ve seen him hook up any gadget to a speaker to make some noise. The result is highly entertaining, but it’s good to know his songs can stand on their own legs without all the extra decor.

That’s why we took him out to a sunflower field last week and recorded “I Hope I Meet All of You Again.” The song is fitting, considering Kupillas is a well-versed traveler who just returned from tour. The transplant only landed in Kansas this Spring, and has since hooked up with musicians on the Whatever Forever label, occasionally jumping in on guitar and making appearances at shows.

It’s hard letting go of a summer full of concerts, tours, and festivals. Hopefully, a sunny field of flowers and a farewell song will help ease the transition.
