Well, boo. Summer is almost over, and to be honest it went by a little too fast. School’s about to start, Downtown is about to get busier, and our lazy days are almost over. So let’s slow it down a bit with the Kings of Leisure.

Shy Boys have been experimenting with lineups lately, but on Friday night they stuck to the threesome we’re used to seeing from this Kansas City pop group. There’s a beauty to their simplicity, as these boys prove time and again that less really is more. Here’s a song with hypnotizing harmonies and a groovy baseline that had much of the Replay keeping it quiet so they could absorb every second of their surf rock-infused performance.

Farewell, summer of 2015. We hardly knew ye.
