UltraVivid has more synths than you, and apparently that’s all you need for a badass electronic act.

With that many synths, the term “electro” doesn’t quite cut it when describing what this band does. The singer will wail over hypnotic beats from a drummer that has some wild moments, thanks to his intense metal background in Lawrence (Wrath and Ruin). UltraVivid keeps the beats organic, but everything else is synthetic.

UltraVivid’s music is moody as fuck. Like, lock yourself in a dark room for days, turn on the black lights, crank up the UltraVivid tracks and brood kind of moody. This is to be expected considering the musical backgrounds of these musicians. The result is a hodgepodge of genres battling it out for who can sulk the most. The answer: you. You will sulk the most thanks to UltraVivid, a band that understands the importance of a good gloom sesh every now and then.

Here’s a sample of what they played at their Replay debut, a performance that will surely add to the resurgence of electronic music in Lawrence.
