On Friday night, a ghostly and grey fog suddenly enveloped the downtown area in Lawrence. But inside Liberty Hall, every color of the rainbow stretched across the stage while the dazzling performer known as Jenny Lewis cast a glow across the audience.

This was really quite a sight. Lewis’ signature rainbow color palette splashed across a massive backdrop, her guitars, pedestals, and suit. Under the soft lights of Liberty Hall, the performer put on one of the most flawless sets of the year. Lewis charmed everyone with her twangy indie numbers saturated in sass. No matter where you stood, you could hear fans singing along while she shimmied across the stage and entranced with deeply personal songs off the recently released The Voyager.

Lewis, who has an extensive career in entertainment, really knew how to work the crowd. She scaled monitors, handed out flowers to her fans, and got major props when she busted a few moves.

Orenda Fink opened the show. The songwriter with a soothing voice softly strummed her guitar, looped her hums and hisses, and produced an eerily beautiful sound perfect for any moody 90’s girl. The songs where her guitarist traded out his instrument for a saw were particularly good at giving you chills.
