You can call it one of those “only in Lawrence” moments.

As part of the Free State Film Festival at the Lawrence Arts Center, the evening revolved around the former Hüsker Dü musician after a screening of Every Everything: The Music, Life, and Times of Grant Hart. Following the film, and a short Q&A session, the artist took the stage to perform a handful of songs before he was joined by some of the most recognizable faces in the scene.

Drummer extraordinaire Kliph Scurlock, Major Games frontman Jeremy Sidener, and man-about-town Cameron Hawk (Dead Girls, Stiff Middle Fingers, Many Moods of Dad, and Lawrence Field Day Fest Founder), all made up this super group.

It was a stunning display of delight, joviality, and good old rock and roll. The performance was laid back and allowed for a more playful demeanor onstage.
