Valentine’s Day turned into a full on love affair at the Jackpot when Lawrence was introduced to the latest in a string of lively and exciting bands. The Natural Highlights made their debut on Friday night in front of an intensely packed house full of scenesters eager to dance the night away.

The female fronted band pays great homage to the female musicians of the 50’s and 60’s. Leading the charge are three gorgeous women with voices to match their sparkling onstage personalities. Behind them, a burst of horns and guitars gussied up and leading the audience in incredibly danceable tunes.

It’s interesting to note that all but one member of Psychic Heat helped make up the backing band. The large group of musicians only delivered covers, but made up for it with rich style and profoundly positive attitudes. They were well-received, and are expected to continue the resurgence of doo-wop in Lawrence, Kansas.
