Wednesday night Red Bull filled the Granada for their Locally Thrown event, bringing together Lawrence and Kansas City DJs and bands in a collaborative partnership. DJ G Train spun early as the crowd filtered in, then worked it out with My Brother, The Vulture in a set mixed with classic covers and My Brother’s originals. Sunu and DJ Kimbarely Legal got the crowd moving with funky Afro-jazz beats and energy to spare (courtesy of the flowing Red Bull?). Local rapper Aproach even got in on the fun, throwing his wordplay over one of Sunu’s jams. And Kansas City’s Making Movies kept hips moving along with DJ Brent-Tactic and DJ B-Stee to their Cuban-roots indie rock sound.
